At Little Companions Leicester, we believe that education begins with values. We are a Montessori-inspired, Islamic nursery in the heart of Leicester. We care for children from birth to age 4, providing a rich, carefully prepared environment where little ones are free to explore, discover, and grow.
Why "Little Companions"?
Our name is not by accident.
In Islamic tradition, the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are remembered for their extraordinary character, integrity, compassion, and dedication to knowledge.
At Little Companions Leicester, we have taken that legacy as our inspiration. We are raising a generation of little companions, children who are kind to one another, confident in who they are, rooted in their faith, and ready to make a positive mark on the world.
Our Philosophy: Where Montessori Meets Islamic Values
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework through a Montessori-inspired approach — and we ground everything we do in Islamic values.
That combination is what makes our approach so distinctive in Leicester.
Montessori philosophy teaches us to trust the child. To follow their curiosity. To prepare an environment so rich and so inviting that learning happens naturally, joyfully, and at each child's own pace.
Islamic values teach us the why behind all of it. Knowledge is one of the most sacred pursuits in our faith. At Little Companions, that belief is not simply a principle we talk about; it is the foundation of everything we build.
Our Story
Little Companions Leicester was founded in 2016 and is based at 28 Saxby Street in the heart of South Highfields. We started with a simple belief that Muslim families in Leicester deserved a nursery where Islamic values are woven into every routine, every interaction, and every corner of the setting.
Since then, we have grown into something we are truly proud of, a warm, welcoming nursery that has earned an Ofsted Good rating, built a loyal community of families, and remained unwavering in our commitment to giving every child the best possible start in life.

About Our Leicester Nursery
When you visit Little Companions Leicester, you'll immediately notice that this is a space that has been thought about carefully, not just in terms of what it looks like, but in terms of what it stands for.
Our nursery is housed in a characterful Victorian building on Saxby Street, conveniently situated for busy families, just minutes from Leicester city centre, within walking distance of Leicester Train Station, and close to the University of Leicester.

A Montessori-Prepared Environment
Our indoor spaces are arranged into purposeful activity areas, stocked with carefully selected Montessori learning materials
Islamic Values Woven Into Every Day
From greetings and supplications to conversations about gratitude and compassion, Islamic values are part of the daily rhythm of life at Little Companions.
Funded Places Available
We accept government-funded childcare entitlements for eligible 2-year-olds and all 3 and 4-year-olds, including the universal 15-hour offer and the 30-hour extended entitlement for qualifying families. Spaces are limited so we encourage families to enquire early.
Fully Halal
All food and snacks at Little Companions are fully halal. Our families never need to worry.
Outdoor Play
We believe fresh air and physical activity are essential to a child's wellbeing, and children of all ages enjoy daily outdoor play as a core part of their routine.
A Truly Inclusive Community
We proudly welcome children from all backgrounds and have particular expertise in supporting children who speak English as an additional language.

The Little Companions Team
We are a small, close-knit team and that's intentional. In a smaller setting, children are truly known. Staff build deep, consistent relationships with every child and every family, and that continuity of care makes an enormous difference to how children settle, how they develop, and how much they love coming in each morning.

We would be truly delighted to welcome your family into the Little Companions community. Even if you're not looking for childcare for a few months yet, we always recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later.
